-LINUX-

History of Linux originated from an initiative of the Finnish student named Linus Torvalds. On October 5, 1991, complete a student named Linus Benedict Torvalds announced via a newsgroup (comp.os.minix) that he managed to make an operating system very similar to UNIX. In his email he says:
Hello everybody out there using minix
I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby,
won't be big and professional like GNU)
for 386 (486) AT clones

Starting from this email, greeting from programmers all over the world arrive. They give lots of input and not a few who helped contribute to the development of this new operating system. Linux is made using a UNIX-like operating system called MINIX. MINIX itself was developed by renowned computer expert Andy Tanenbaum.
The earliest version of Linux developed by Linus Torvalds and didistribusika via the Internet has a code of version 0.0.2. This version of Linux can run GNU Bourne Again Shell (Bash) and also the GNU C Compiler (GCC). Furthermore, the released version 0.0.3 and version 0.10.
Today, Linux is a complete operating system. Linux development is controlled by the community of developers and users. They volunteered to develop the operating system without getting paid. Due to the large community of Linux developers and the nature of the Linux operating system that is open, there appeared a variety of Linux distributions. Several advantages that make Linux widely used are:
● Linux can be obtained free of charge
● Linux in one package there are many software applications
● Linux is an operating system that is multiuser and multitasking
● user can obtain and modify the source code (source code) Linux
● user can develop his own version of Linux

● Linux has been developed can be redistributed without infringing copyright. Linux IGOS
Indonesia Go Open Source or IGOS is an operating system made in Indonesia. Starting from the spirit of the movement to improve the use and development of open source software in Indonesia, IGOS was born on June 30, 2004. IGOS declaration by the five ministries in Indonesia, namely:
● Ministry of Research and Technology
● Ministry of Communication and Information
● Ministry of Justice and Human Rights
● Ministry of State for Administrative Reform

● Ministry of National Education Making Linux IGOS itself involves all components of the information technology community, ranging from academics, businesses, government agencies and the general public. The goal of this project is that Indonesian people can use legal software and proud of the work of the nation itself and not depend on the work of other nations. Follow-up of the project was the establishment IGOS Center, which is a container open source software community.
Linux Ubuntu
Ubuntu name taken from African languages to mean a sense of humanity towards fellow human beings. Ubuntu can also be interpreted as "I am me, because our being for all". Simply put, Ubuntu is the meaning of togetherness. Ubuntu is often symbolized by three people who stand in a circle holding hands. Ubuntu Logologo also describe the same meaning.
Project Ubuntu is sponsored by Canonical Ltd a company owned by Mark Shuttleworth. Ubuntu Linux operating system is freely available and has good support, which is sourced from the community and information technology experts. The Ubuntu community has a philosophy:
● software or software should be freely available
● application software must support the local and the local language should be usable by people who have physical limitations.
● Linux users or user can change the software according to the needs of each
Linux Mandriva
Mandriva Linux was originally called Mandrake. Linux operating system is renowned for its simplicity in use and its interface is user friendly. Mandriva indirectly is one variant of Linux RedHat, Mandrake was originally considering a variant of RedHat Linux. Mandriva Linux display example shown in Figure:
Linux SuSE
SuSE Linux operating system is manufactured in Germany by a company called NOVEL. There are two types of SuSE Linux, SuSE Linux is SuSE Linux Desktop and Server. This operating system was not originally free. People who want to use have to spend some money to get it.
SuSE own history began in the 1990s. At that time, SuSE Linux bundled in a diskette with an amount not less, that is 50 pieces. The user or users who want to get SuSE Linux can take it from the Internet. The problem is, many SuSE Linux enthusiasts are not currently have an Internet connection. In April 1994 the SuSE package then packaged in a CD (if you need 70 pieces of wear floppy diskette). Along with the development, SuSE eventually eliminate one of the desktop product and named OpenSuSE. OpenSuSE Linux can be obtained and can be downloaded directly from the Internet at http:www.opensuse.org. However, SuSE Server or commonly known as SLES (SuSE Linux Enterprise Server) yet we can use for free.
Linux RedHat
In the early development of Linux, RedHat Linux distribution is one of the most widely used, especially in Indonesia. In addition to its compatibility with existing hardware, RedHat is also known for easy to use and very good for the server operating system. RedHat company was founded in 1993 with headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Unfortunately, Linux RedHat no longer be used free of charge since the RedHat version 9. Instead, the developer provides the Fedora Core. Linux RedHat later became commercialized Linux RedHat Enterprise Server that is focused as a server operating system.

Linux Fedora
Fedora Linux is a development of the Redhat Linux operating system. Operating system was previously called Fedora Core. Fedora Project Fedora is developed by a team supported by a community of programmers and sponsored by Red Hat. RedHat role in this project more as an architect who directs the packets of what will be developed and as a provider of resources that will be used by Fedora developers. RedHat itself intended to make the Fedora Project as a means to develop and mature technologies that will be used on Linux RedHat Enterprise Server.
Linux Debian
Debian Linux created by a Purdue University student, the United States named Ian Murdoch. Debian was first developed on August 16, 1993. The name itself comes from the word Debian Debra and Ian. In 1996, Ian Murdoch as the leader of the Debian project was replaced by Bruce Perens. In the same year, one of the Debian developers named Ean Schuessler took the initiative to form the Debian Social Contract and Debian Free Software Guidelines.
Linux Slackware
Slackware Linux is one of the earliest Linux distributions. This distro was released by Patrick Volkerding in 1993, precisely on 16 July 1993. Slackware Linux prioritizes stability and simplicity so that a Linux distro is most similar to UNIX. Today Slackware has evolved in such a way and has a charming appearance.
